The Senate has passed the jobs bill that made its way painfully through Congress these past few weeks.
From the Associated Press:
The Senate has passed a bill aimed at boosting job growth by giving tax breaks to businesses that hire the unemployed. The jobs legislation would also extend highway and mass transit programs through the end of the year and pump $20 billion into them in time for the construction season. Economists say the tax breaks could create perhaps 250,000 jobs.
Hiring the unemployed. Creating new jobs. What’s not to love?
Apparently there was enough in it for 28 Senators to vote against it. Nor surprise: it was 27 GOPosaurs and “Democrat” Ben Nelson of Nebraska.
A bit more about the tax exemption:
[The bill]…exempt[s] businesses hiring the unemployed from the 6.2 percent Social Security payroll tax through December and give them an additional $1,000 credit if new workers stay on the job a full year.
It now goes back to the House for reconciliation with their more ambitious version passed in December 2009.

On a related note, not only was newly-minted GOPosaur Senator Scott Brown inundated by Teabaggers and their friends with virulent rhetoric, his darling daughter Ayla Brown’s Facebook page got some love, too.
