But, as a vegetarian, I have to say that I just absolutely LOVE the first line of the story:
A North Dakota bison processor is recalling about 25,000 pounds of whole beef heads because the animals’ tonsils may not have been taken out.
Mmmmm…tonsils…
The U.S. Agriculture Department says tonsils must be removed from all cattle to guard against the possible spread of mad cow disease…[The heads] were shipped to distribution centers in Minnesota, Michigan and Maryland.
I wonder how the teabaggers feel about this socialist group “the United States Agriculture Department? Who are these oppressive regulatory fiends that are preventing the free market from operating in its most efficient manner? Why on earth would they stop the shipment of 12½ tons of whole cow heads with tonsils intact [retch], thus threatening the livelihood of this good American company, North American Bison Co-Op?

Tonsils are considered a specified risk material (SRM) and must be removed from cattle of all ages in accordance with [the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service] regulations. SRMs are tissues that are known to contain the infective agent in cattle infected with Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), as well as materials that are closely associated with these potentially infective tissues. Therefore, FSIS prohibits SRMs from use as human food to minimize potential human exposure to the BSE agent.
Yes, the United Socialist States of Barack NObama are at it again. And if you think this recall of 12½ tons of beef heads (with tonsils) [retch] is bad, consider this:
About 4,595 tons of meat and meat products were recalled during the first quarter of 2010, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). Twenty-one recalls were recorded during the quarter.
Over NINE MILLION POUNDS of perfectly good meat gone to waste because of a bunch of over-zealous socialistic commie regulators answering to — you guessed it — Barack Hussein Obama. All because of a little e. coli or tonsils or something. Jebus.
That right there is a socialist plot by the Usuper-in-Chief himself to destroy a good ole Murkin industry. First they took over the banks. Then the auto industry. Then the health care industry. And now — NOW! — they are taking over the cattle (with tonsils) [retch] industry.
