I’m en route to Netroots Nation but had to pull off to blog THIS:
A whistle-blower lawsuit filed by a former top aide to Detroit Mayor Dave Bing this morning alleges that the mayor had plans to be named emergency manager for the city and Detroit Public Schools, dissolving the city council and the school board.~SNIP~
Collins said in the suit that she worked with “stakeholders” on an effort that would have made Bing emergency financial manager of Detroit and his former deputy Kirk Lewis emergency manager of the public schools, dissolving the city council and the school board.

Collins said in the suit that she worked with “stakeholders” on an effort that would have made Bing emergency financial manager of Detroit and his former deputy Kirk Lewis emergency manager of the public schools, dissolving the city council and the school board.
Collins alleges she worked with a consultant to poll residents about Bing taking over the schools, with “results of which showed overwhelming support,” and scheduled clandestine meetings between Lewis, Gov. Rick Snyder or his representatives and former Detroit schools emergency manager Robert Bobb.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind when you digest this. First, Dave Bing is a businessman. Yes, he was once a pro athlete but, prior to becoming mayor of Detroit, Bing was a businessman. Second, Emergency Financial Managers are predisposed — hell, they are trained — to outsource as many city and school services as they can. The fact that Bing was meeting with another businessman-turned-government leader, Governor Rick Snyder, should raise every red flag and hackle that you have.
If you don’t think there is a coordinated effort on the part of business interests in grabbing control of as many governments and schools as they can in order to help their business colleagues make more and more profit, you should wake up.
