Detroit gets some good news: Tigers win their division!

by

The Detroit Tigers won the American League Central division title for the first time since 1987 and are going to post-season play for the first time since 2006.

Good news for Detroit. Good news for Michigan.

By the way, when did they change their logo from this:

to this?

Answer: never. The bottom one is on their caps only. Both are in current use. The top one with the tiger face is actually NOT in use any longer. They quit using it in 1993.

When Jim Leyland came on as the Tigers’ manager in 2006, the first thing he did was get rid of this logo:

Leyland said it looked like a “caged Tiger” and he wasn’t having any of that!

The full history of Tigers’ logos are HERE.
