Day 1 – Third Quarter Fundraiser

by

Hi, folks. It’s that time of year when we come to you begging for all your moneys. Well, not ALL your moneys. Just the amount you think it’s worth paying to have the Eclectablog team bringing you terrific content, much of which you literally cannot find anywhere else.

You’ll notice some recent changes to our blog with regards to advertising and such. First, a bit over a month ago, I implemented TinyPass. This is the same approach that Andrew Sullivan uses for The Daily Dish when he left Atlantic Online and went out on his own. It allows you to easily purchase a monthly or yearly pass. Every tenth visit, you’re reminded you can support us finacially with a pop-up. Once you’ve purchased a pass, the pop-up goes away (as long as you have cookies enabled.) If this proves to be successful enough, we may eliminate other ads entirely.

We’ve also recently pulled all of the sidebar and header ads from the site. The group that was serving those ads owes us several thousand dollars going back for nearly a year. Obviously, that’s not a tenable situation. Unfortunately, screwing over bloggers with regard to ad revenue is a not uncommon situation, one many of us deal with. We’ll be hooking up with a new ad network in the next couple of weeks.

If you’d like to support what we do here at Eclectablog, click on the Tiny Pass pop-up when it comes around (as I said, every tenth click on the site) or you can use the handy dandy PayPal link below. With both the Tiny Pass and PayPal, you can change the amount to whatever you wish.

If you would prefer to send a check, send me an email and I’ll give you the address.

One thing that separates Eclectablog from many other political blogs out there is that we pay our writers. The revenues that we bring in are split among the four of us (including Anne for her remarkable photos and graphics.) If you value what you find at Eclectablog, please consider making a donation today.

Thank you,
Chris, Anne, LOLGOP, and Amy
