What a Difference a Week Makes

by

A week ago, Gallup had McCain up by 2. Today, down by 8:

It’s also the first time either of them has hit 50%.

Rasmussen has him at 51%.

Also, I had read that some bloggers were questioning whether or not Republican vice-presidential nominee, Sarah Palin, was the actual mother of the baby she had in April, Trig. What I hadn’t realized was that there was actually some reason to doubt it beyond partisan snark.

Read this article from the Anchorage Daily News about when she announced she was SEVEN MONTHS pregnant. Everyone interviewed in the article is astounded because she didn’t look pregnant, even at seven months. They describe her as having a “barely perceptible bulge”. At seven months. Then there’s a couple other facts like that she took an eight-hour flight home from Texas AFTER HER WATER BROKE to have her baby in Alaska rather than in Texas. Also, she went back to work only THREE DAYS after giving birth to Trig, born with Down Syndrome. Finally, her daughter, Bristol, was out of school for several months during the final trimester of the pregnancy. Her family explained that she had mononucleosis.

When you read that article with these facts in hand, it reads somewhat differently, at least it does to me.

So, snark or no snark, there was at least some basis for some bloggers to suggest that perhaps it was actually her daughter’s baby and that she was covering it up for her. I don’t have an opinion on it, personally. It seems pretty far-fetched to me when it comes right down to it.

However, if her 17-year old pregnant daughter mysteriously miscarries in the next few months, well, let’s just say that’s gonna be a BIG red flag.

I’m just sayin’…
