Anti-union conservatives holding a rally in Madison, Wisconsin Saturday

by

This ought to be good. Anti-union right-wingers are holding an “I Stand With Walker” anti-union rally at the capitol building in Madison tomorrow. It’s being promoted by Rush Limbaugh wannabe conservative radio host Vicki McKenna. She posted this on her Facebook page today:

BOOK IT: capitol rally for taxpayers, noon on SATURDAY! bring cleaning supplies to clean up the pigsty the liberal union goons left behind at OUR house.

There’s also a Facebook event page for the anti-union rally. It has this to say, confirming that this is a tea partier gig:

NOW Featuring Andrew Breitbart of Breitbart.com, Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit, Ned Ryun – President of American Majority, Vicki McKenna, and Herman Cain. More Speakers TBA.

As the week has progressed, Wisconsin and the Nation have watched schools across Wisconsin close due to teachers participating in a “sick out”, the unions bussing people in from other states to inflate their rally numbers in Madison and legislators fleeing the …state to avoid the vote on the budget repair bill.

It’s time the voices of the Wisconsin people are heard.

We’ve had thousands of people show up for tea party events to rally to take our state back – but our work isn’t done. Let’s have our voices heard once again and show our state legislators that we support this bill. We need concerned Wisconsin citizens to show up at noon on Saturday, February 19th to voice our support for Gov. Walker and our conservative legislators! Tell your friends–let’s set a turn out record! Remember to be peaceful and bring those signs!

I wish I was feeling better. I’d go and set up a lawn chair concession. I’m sure I’d make a killing.

UPDATE: Turns out that the rally is being sponsored by the odious Club for Growth and the Koch Brothers-funded Americans for Prosperity. They have also put up a site at www.StandWithWalker.com that redirects to americansforprosperity.org/walker/. This is not to be confused with the website that you are taken to if you click the image up top, www.IStandWithWalker.com. This confirms that this event is the very definition of an astroturfed event; a corporate-sponsored event passing itself off as grassroots.

And the tea partiers fall for it every goddam time.

I’m just sayin’…
