Very serious presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, will make a very serious speech on health care reform tomorrow in Ann Arbor. It is a very serious occasion that has resulted in in many very serious articles about the very serious event that will happen two days from the announcement in all of the very serious media outlets like the Detroit Free Press, the Washington Post, AnnArbor.com, the Boston Globe, the Detroit News, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times.
According to the very serious press release, this very serious speech will cover the following very serious points:
- Restore to the states the responsibility and resources to care for their poor, uninsured, and chronically ill.
- Give a tax deduction to those who buy their own health insurance, just like those who buy it through their employers.
- Streamline the federal regulation of healthcare.
- Reduce the influence of lawsuits on medical practice and costs.
- Make healthcare more like a consumer market and less like a government program.
Meanwhile, back in Massachusetts, given recent very positive (if not serious) polling, people are happy with the health reforms Romney put into place while he was Governor there. 84% of them like the reforms Governor Romney put in place, in fact. I can only assume the residents of Massachusetts will be protesting his attempt to take away their health care reform.
