I’m pleased to be able to announce that I am teaming up with Christine Barry, owner of Blogging for Michigan and Tony Trupiano, host of First Shift with Tony Trupiano to do a weekly segment on First Shift. The segment, called “Blog Role”, will focus on the Michigan blogosphere and what bloggers in our state are working on writing about.
From Christine’s post at BfM:
If you’re looking for some great Michigan progressive talk, check out Tony Trupiano’s show. First Shift with Tony Trupiano airs 6a-9a, Mon-Fri, on 1310am. You can stream it through the heart network, or download the podcasts.BFM and Chris aka Eclectablog will be on First Shift at 8:35 a.m. Monday mornings. We’ll be doing a progressivesphere round-up to bring attention to the issues being covered by Michigan bloggers. Very cool stuff.
Tomorrow I’ll be on to discuss blogging and the 83 County Project. It’s going to be about 10 minutes, please listen in and let us know what you think. Chris will be picking up the segment next week, and I hope he’ll be talking a little bit about Snyder’s Little Dictators. He really is the grassroots expert on the Emergency Manager subject.
Very cool stuff comic up in 2012. Big BFM thanks to Tony Trupiano for bringing the blogosphere to his show!!
If you are in the Michigan area, Tony’s show should be on your listening list. You can listen to it live in southeastern Michigan, stream it live (including to smart phones) or listen to the podcasts. This is really the only liberal talk radio in Michigan so we need to be supporting it.
I also commend your attention to Christine’s “83 County Project”.
[W]ith great pride and excitement I’m announcing the 83 County Project. In short, the goal of the project is to develop a minimum of 2 local progressive bloggers in each county in Michigan. Local bloggers are the key to bottom-up politics and grassroots activism. We need more of them. There are two primary goals of the 83 County Project. The first is to recruit, train, and mentor local bloggers. We’ll be reaching out to county organizations to establish relationships and identify those activists who are interested in blogging. From there we’ll offer the support and technical resources needed in order for the bloggers to thrive in the sphere.
The second goal is to build relationships in Lansing and DC to increase the relevance of the Michigan progressivesphere. We want to support our progressive legislators and help them get their messages out to the public. We also want them to hear us when we express concerns.
For interested bloggers, we can offer the following:
- A platform on which to blog (bloggingformichigan.com or bloggingformichigan.com/yourblog)
OR
A custom url (www.yourdomain.com) & custom site our server- tech support, site backups, etc.
- training on topics such as FOIA, press credentials, social media, etc.
- Sharing of information, leads, and other resources
- A community of kick-ass people to chat with
- …and a whole lot more !!
If you are interested in getting involved in blogging, shoot me an email at christine@bloggingformichigan.com.
If you are already a blogger, or if you can’t take on blogging right now but you want to help, here are some of the things that we could use:
- established bloggers to help train and mentor the recruits
- access to organizations, parties, legislators, etc., so that we can assist with messaging
- Donations to help cover the costs of the project
This is a brand new project, and I’m open to suggestions on it. I’d love to hear your thoughts, questions, feedback, etc. Comment here or send me an email.
