When you lose Livingston County’s largest newspaper, you’ve lost
The Livingston County Press & Argus has a blistering op-ed today, slamming House Republicans for re-selecting known election fraudster Jase Bolger as their Speaker once again. They slam Bolger. They slam Livingston County House Represenatives Cindy Denby and Bill Rogers. Frankly, they slam almost the entire GOP House caucus.
And they pull exactly zero punches.
The election is over. Republicans have maintained control of the state House of Representatives.Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as though they have the gumption to strike a blow for ethics, accountability and the sanctity of fraud-free elections.
Instead, they plan to reward state Rep. Jase Bolger, R-Marshall, with another term as House speaker. […]
Livingston County’s two Republican state representatives, Bill Rogers and Cindy Denby, should be outraged that they have been characterized as “happy” with the leadership of a man who, at best, exercised inexcusable judgment. If they are angered, they have chosen to remain silent. […]
[A]pparently, from the view of state House Republicans and the governor, it’s a crisis if a single ineligible person votes, but it’s fine and dandy to put an ineligible candidate on the ballot.
State Republican leadership says it’s all better since Bolger apologized. But Republican Secretary of State Ruth Johnson says that a noncitizen can be deported — apology and all — if he mistakenly votes because her office wrongly registered him as a voter.
The hypocrisy among Michigan’s Republicans is truly breathtaking. All of you supposed worshippers of the Constitution and law & order ought to be carrying torches and pitchforks to Lansing demanding Bolger’s head.
Instead, the people you elected put him back in the leadership position.
Just one more nail in the coffin of today’s Republican Party.
