Advocates for healthcare reform will stand up to the vocal super-minority.
Tuesday should be an interesting day on Capitol Hill.
Ahead of an Exempt America from Obamacare Rally scheduled for noon ET on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol, a group of U.S. Senate and House leaders will join Obamacare advocates at a press conference to denounce Republican and Tea Party efforts to sabotage the law and leave millions uninsured. The press conference is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. ET at the Capitol Visitors Center.
The anti-Obamacare zealots don’t care about the truth. They don’t care about the reports showing that premiums will be lower than expected under Obamacare. They don’t even care that the effort to defund or sabotage the law is deepening the rift between the Republican Party and the Tea Party. They only care about defeating President Obama.
Fortunately, voices of reason in Washington will be speaking out against the increasingly savage attacks against the law, which now include harassing charitable organizations trying to help the uninsured navigate the upcoming healthcare marketplaces.
U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD-8), U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-3) and U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL-9) will join Obamacare advocates including Brad Woodhouse of Americans United for Change/Protect Your Care at the press conference.
Let the anti-Obamacare crusaders continue spreading lies and attacking the law and its supporters. A recent poll shows that only seven percent of Republican voters want to defund Obamacare, so all the extremists’ ranting and raving isn’t doing them any favors.
Perhaps someone should remind these “defenders of liberty” that the truth will set them free. And the truth is that Obamacare is the law, it’s here to stay — and it’s working. The facts speak for themselves.
