Day 2: 3rd Quarter fundraiser – If we all do what we can, those Kochs can’t win

There is no voter outreach strategy in politics more effective than a volunteer showing up and knocking on a door. It’s the kind of outreach money literally can’t buy.

Thus: When progressives get out the vote, Democrats win.

It’s a simple formula and no one I’ve ever met lives it better than Chris Savage. When this man isn’t waking up early to interview more than a dozen teachers about Rick Snyder’s failed educational experiments, organizing meetings, recruiting canvassers, supporting his bloggers, knocking on doors or actually blogging, he’s working his full-time job.

If you had an army of Chris Savages, you couldn’t lose.

The Koch brothers and other right-wing funders know this and they’re trying to create activists with his kind of commitment and knowledge and charm in captivity. And they’ll fail far more often than they succeed.

Chris and his gifted wife Anne — a world-champion door knocker and photographer — use Eclectablog to inform and inspire, creating a 24/7 beacon to invite progressives in our state and across the country to get more involved.

And I’m not just be proud to be part of this effort, I’ve been changed by it.

I’ve spent three years in my online world, trying to make some difference. But this election year I’m battling myself to overcome myself to be that part of a campaign money can’t buy. I’ve been showing up to support candidates and next I’m going to get over my lame self and start knocking on doors.

We all just need to do what we can. The stakes are always high and they always involve the Supreme Court. Complacency costs people health insurance, it waters down wages and puts women’s medical decisions of anybody but her. Complacency gave us a vile invasion that cost us more than paying for every American child’s college education would. Complacency gave Michigan the 3rd worst unemployment rate in the nation.

So that’s all that I’m asking from you — and me.

If you’d like to join those who find what we do here at Eclectablog worthy of supporting financially, there are three ways to help.

First, you can make your donation using the PayPal link below. You can change the amount if you wish. The default is $50 which is basically $1 per week, a pretty good value.

[donateplus]

Or you can wait until the TinyPass pop-up pops up (every tenth click on the site) and donate that way. If you do that, the popups will go away as long as you have cookies enabled. Again, the default amounts for annual or monthly donations can be adjusted to whatever you wish them to be. They are currently set to be around $1 per week. Again, it’s a great value.

Finally, if you would prefer to send a check, send Chris an email and I’ll give you the address. This is the most beneficial way for us because it avoids the Paypal and Tinypass fees that are taken from contributions to the site.

If you cannot afford to support us financially, you can still help. Please share our content on your Facebook page or other social media like Twitter, Reddit, etc. Put a “Like” on our Facebook page and click the “Invite friends” button and encourage your friends to like us, too.

Thanks so much for your support,
LOLGOP, Chris, Anne, Amy, Emma, and Charles
