Put your money where your mouth is, please.
The other day, a friend and I were talking about how important it is to have an informed electorate. I mentioned Eclectablog and she exclaimed, “I love that blog!”
My friend knows full well I’m a contributor, but this wasn’t about me. It was about Eclectablog being a resource for people who want to be educated voters and engaged citizens. It was about people who want to read perspectives that aren’t manicured and manipulated by the media — viewpoints and information that are so important to Eclectablog’s contributors that we feel the need to write about them.
After all, Eclectablog isn’t a full-time job for any of us, although our fearless leader Chris Savage does pay us, something a lot of other blogs can’t say. But we all write here because we care about the issues and we want to raise our voices in an effort to make a difference.
Reader donations are responsible for most of Eclectablog’s funding. So if you love us — really love us — please consider making a donation during our quarterly fundraiser. Whatever you can give makes a difference in sustaining progressive voices that everyone needs to hear if they’re going to be fully informed.
There are three ways to contribute.
First, you can make your donation using the PayPal form at the top of the right sidebar. You can choose which level of support you wish to give us from the dropdown box or choose a different level if you wish by using the “Other amount” box. The default is $60 which is basically $1 per week after the fees are taken out, a pretty good value.
Or you can wait until the TinyPass pop-up pops up (every tenth click on the site) and donate that way. If you do that, the popups will go away as long as you have cookies enabled. Like with the PayPal form, the default amounts for annual or monthly donations can be adjusted to whatever you wish them to be. They are currently set to be around $1 per week. Again, it’s a great value.
Finally, if you would prefer to send a check, send Chris an email and he’ll give you the address. This is the most beneficial way for us because it avoids the PayPal and Tinypass fees that are taken from contributions to the site.

If you cannot afford to support us financially, there are other ways that you can still help.
For instance, please share our content on your Facebook page or other social media like Twitter, Reddit, etc. Put a “Like” on our Facebook page and click the “Invite friends” button and encourage your friends to like us, too.
If nothing else, do what my friend did: Tell people you love us.
