Michigan Republicans throw GOP candidate Steve Marino under the bus

by

Republican Macomb County Commissioner and candidate for the 24th House District seat, Steve Marino, has been in the news a LOT lately. His 27-year-old big mouth has him in big trouble with his own party, with people he’s either trashed or lied about, and for his call to raise the retirement age to 75.

It appears that his own party has now thrown him under the bus. The “Quote of the Day” on MIRS News Service’s website makes it clear (screenshot HERE):

“I’ll say this, if Steve MARINO wins, you can thank straight-ticket voting.”

– House Republican Committee Chair Aric NESBITT quips to a gathering of lobbyists and clients of a large multi-client lobbying firm today. Nesbitt is referring to the numerous politically damaging recordings Democrats have released on Marino, the Republican candidate in the 24th House District.

Nesbitt is heading up the Michigan House Republicans’ effort to hold onto their majority in the state House. Democrats need to pick up only nine seats to regain control and the 24th House District seat is one they have their eye on. It appears that any hope of them keeping this seat from flipping blue has gone out the door with Marino’s imbecilic comments, recorded by a Michigan Democratic Party tracker. You can listen to the recordings at LobbyistSteveMarino.com.

Michigan Republicans have fought tooth and nail to end straight-ticket voting in our state. This may be a case where it actually helps them. However, given Marino’s big mouth, that seems increasingly unlikely.

Luckily for voters in the 24th District, they have a reasonable and sane option: Democrat Dana Camphous-Peterson. If you’d like to help out her campaign and help her make sure Steve Marino never gets to take his imbecility into the state legislature, head over to her website DanaForStateHouse and sign up today. Donations to her campaign can be made HERE.
