Another Michigan Republican busted for lying on MLive’s candidate questionnaire

Another Michigan Republican busted for lying on MLive’s candidate questionnaire

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about Republican Brandt Iden who is running for office in Michigan’s 61st House district and who lied on a candidate questionnaire about having been convicted of a crime. Today another GOP liar has been busted. This time it’s Republican state Rep. Kevin Cotter who is running for reelection in Michigan’s 99th state House […]

VIDEO: Foreclosure vulture David Trott and Democrat Bobby McKenzie throw down on WDIV’s Flashpoint + Trott protests planned

Yesterday, WDIV-TV aired segment featuring a debate of sorts between Republican Foreclosure vulture David Trott and his MI-11 Democratic opponent Bobby McKenzie. It was a contentious debate and I’m told a number of f-bombs were tossed during the commercial break and afterwards.

McKenzie repeatedly hammered Trott on his foreclosure activities that tossed 80,000 people out of their homes in one year. Trott doubled down on his position that Obamacare has to be repealed and replaced and on his opposition to marriage equality.

Trott refused to call McKenzie by his proper first name, repeatedly calling him “Bob” throughout the debate.

Video after the jump along with information about two Trott protests, tonight and tomorrow.

Detroit Free Press extols Mark Schauer’s values as “embedded in Michigan’s DNA” then endorses Rick Snyder for Governor

Detroit Free Press extols Mark Schauer’s values as “embedded in Michigan’s DNA” then endorses Rick Snyder for Governor

For the most part, I give little credence to newspaper endorsements except when they are out of character. However, the Detroit Free Press endorsement of Rick Snyder deserves to be discussed derisively for the absurdity that it is. If you read the commentary accompanying the endorsement, you would assume that Mark Schauer would have been their choice. These are some […]

INTERVIEW: Tracy Van den Bergh for Probate Judge – “Too often the voice of the vulnerable isn’t heard in our courts”

The race for Probate Judge in Washtenaw County has been hard fought and gotten a fair amount of attention locally. What many people are unaware of is the intense amount of politics that has played into this race. Having spoken with numerous people who are knowledgeable about the Probate Court, I’ve come to understand that two of the conservative judges […]

Mark Totten calls on television stations to pull deceptive ad claiming he was “never a real prosecutor”

Photo by Anne C. Savage, special to Eclectablog The Michigan Advocacy Trust, a 527 group that it does not disclose its donors, has a new television ad out deceptively claiming that Democratic candidate for Attorney General Mark Totten “was never a real prosecutor” and had never handled a federal criminal case. The group is run by Richard McLellan, secretary of […]

There’s still time to sign up to earn some money on Election Day helping democracy work for all of us

There’s still time to sign up to earn some money on Election Day helping democracy work for all of us

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the massive GOTV operation being organized by the 12th Congressional District Democrats. I wanted to let everyone know that there is still time to sign up to volunteer on Election Day and to earn some money at the same time. They need volunteers for shifts between 3:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, […]

Nothing to see here, just another Aramark employee busted smuggling drugs to prisoners

Nothing to see here, just another Aramark employee busted smuggling drugs to prisoners

This whole “privatize government services to a for-profit corporation” thing is just going so well isn’t it? Prison food vendor Aramark has stubbed its toe a few times, but, hey, we have to “work with them”, as Governor Snyder put it. And by stubbing their toe, I mean: Running out of food Making unauthorized food substitutions in violation of their […]

Rick Snyder hasn’t taken $1 billion out of K-12 education, he’s taken BILLIONS out of K-12 education

Rick Snyder hasn’t taken $1 billion out of K-12 education, he’s taken BILLIONS out of K-12 education

I had a conversation with Ann Arbor-area state Representative Jeff Irwin recently and he brought up a point few people are discussing related to higher education. There’s been a lot of focus on how much money is in Gov. Snyder’s budget for education and Gov. Snyder wants everyone to believe that he has put MORE money into his education budget […]

New PPP poll has Peters up by 14 points over what’s-her-name and Schauer tied 48-48 with Snyder

Photo by Anne C. Savage, special to Eclectablog I always look forward to Public Policy Polling (PPP) polls because they are one of the most accurate pollsters in the country. They have a new poll out, done for the League of Conservation Voters, that has some very good news for Democrats. First, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate is crushing his […]

Scenes from yesterday’s “street trial” of Foreclosure Vulture David Trott

Although I has unable to attend yesterday’s “street trial” of Foreclosure Vulture, Republican David Trott, my friend Katie Jacob was able to attend and sent me some photos and video of the event. There has been very little coverage of this event except for one article. I’m told Trott was seen leaving his office through a back exit to avoid […]
