INTERVIEW (with photos) with one of Michigan’s rare married same-sex couples on their one-year anniversary

One year ago today, Anne and I spent an extraordinary day at the County Clerk’s offices in Washtenaw and Oakland counties, watching as some of the 300+ same-sex couples were legally married for the first time in our state’s history. You can revisit that day with us in the post (HERE) that we put up featuring many of Anne’s outstanding […]

Scenes from yesterday’s “street trial” of Foreclosure Vulture David Trott

Although I has unable to attend yesterday’s “street trial” of Foreclosure Vulture, Republican David Trott, my friend Katie Jacob was able to attend and sent me some photos and video of the event. There has been very little coverage of this event except for one article. I’m told Trott was seen leaving his office through a back exit to avoid […]

PHOTOBLOG: A recap of the Netroots Nation conference in Detroit

Last week, over 3,000 people from around the country and around the world came to Detroit to participate in Netroots Nation, the largest conference for progressive organizers in the world. Team Eclectablog was there to help, of course, but none so much as Anne Savage who was a staff photographer for the event. Anne took all of the photos for […]

Eclectablog photographer Anne C. Savage featured in the American Journalism Review

Wifeproud The American Journalism Review recently relaunched itself as a web-only publication, a major move for a major publication. The central article on the newly launched site is a piece by Jackie Spinner titled “‘Identity Crisis’ in Photojournalism”. It’s a terrific piece that discusses the new trend of major print media outlets shedding photographers and having their writers taking photos […]

REPOST: The day Detroit went bankrupt: A photographer’s story.

With the announcement that Detroit is officially in bankruptcy and at the suggestion of my good friend Emily Hauser, we thought it would appropriate to rerun a photographic journey to Detroit taken by Eclectablogger and photographer extraordinaire Anne C. Savage the day Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr filed the bankruptcy paperwork – July 18th, 2013. It’s an antidote, if you will, […]

PHOTO ESSAY: New York City – An unforgettable day, an unforgettable city

Twelve years ago I was living in St. Louis working for the St. Louis Post Dispatch. I was single with two dogs and a parrot, and spent my free time going to bars and listening to music and watching sporting events with family and friends. I hadn’t even met Chris at that point. Now, 12 years later I work for […]

The day Detroit went bankrupt: A photographer’s story.

“Like the phoenix, Detroit WILL rise again” – Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm I had a meeting yesterday with a client looking for current photographs to reflect their growing business, with its many new employees and in its new location only 10 miles north on Woodward Avenue from downtown Detroit. This client was a good 50-minute drive away from where […]

Last Day! – Second Quarter fundraiser — some photos for your trouble

Last Day! – Second Quarter fundraiser — some photos for your trouble

There’s still lots of room in the tip jar

Today is the last day of our Second Quarter fundraiser. I, for one, and happy about that, mainly because I hate begging you for money. But these are necessary to help pay for all of the things that we spend our time and money on over the year. For example, this year we’ll be heading back to the Netroots Nation conference for a week which is in California this year.

If you’d like to donate, you can use the Paypal widget after the jump, putting in what ever amount you wish and even making it a recurring donation if you’d like. If you’d rather send a check, send me an email (click HERE) and I’ll provide you with my mailing address.

As a reward for putting up with the fundraiser this quarter, there are some photos by my wife Anne C. Savage if you click through. Her photos are the primary reason that this site looks as good as it does. Enjoy.
