Western leaders get real about Russia’s interference in Ukraine and Crimea

Western leaders get real about Russia’s interference in Ukraine and Crimea

The G-7 countries issued a joint statement this morning warning Russia to back off in Crimea. In the statement they say, in no uncertain terms, that they will not recognize Crimea returning to Russian control if the proposed referendum passes. Their statement makes it clear that, with Russian soldiers patroling the streets in Crimea, if the referendum passes, it will […]

David Trott’s millionaire donors include GOP class clown Donald Trump

If you want to position yourself as an alternative to Tea Party zealot Rep. Kerry Bentivolio, maybe associating with Donald Trump isn’t the best idea. We’re judged by the company we keep, and Republican Congressional candidate David Trott is making his allegiances known. The latest report from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) shows plenty of contributions to Trott for Congress, […]

The media refuses to acknowledge how horrendously out of touch the GOP has become

You wouldn’t know it by watching or listening to most pundits, but the Republican Party is more unpopular today than at the lowest points of George W. Bush’s presidency. And they’re far less popular than they were when they won 1.3 million fewer votes than Democratic House candidates. On the day of the president’s State of the Union, the House […]

Full details available at ACASignups.net The biggest news since last Friday was Monday’s release of the official HHS Dept. December enrollment numbers. Obamacare Friday Update: 2.2M Private, 9.78M Total

Every Friday I’m posting the latest enrollment figures for the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) here at Eclectablog. Full details can be viewed daily at ACASignups.net. PODCASTS: Catching up with Tony Trupiano’s latest podcasts

PODCASTS: Catching up with Tony Trupiano’s latest podcasts

As i mentioned last week, radio show host extraordinaire Tony Trupiano is leaning “more than 90%” toward a run for the 13th district state house seat. Because of this, he has not resumed his radio program Night Shift with Tony Trupiano. That hasn’t stopped our intrepid broadcaster, however and he has continued doing podcasts.

The podcast format has been a joy because it allows for more relaxed conversations than the rigid 30-minute radio segments offer, plus they aren’t interrupted by a commercial break.

George Zimmerman in custody on gun-related charges

George Zimmerman in custody on gun-related charges

Here we go again… A short time after he was acquitted for murdering Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman was pulled over for speeding and found to have a (legal) gun in his car. He was given a warning by police officers that had him take pictures with them (he’s a celebrity, after all) and then sent on his merry way with […]

Ted Nugent’s wife arrested for being too stupid to remember she was carrying a gun through airport security

There should be an IQ test for getting a gun permit Ted Nugent’s wife Shemane Nugent was arrested yesterday when security agents found a gun in her luggage at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Why did she have a gun in her carry-on luggage? Because she forgot she was carrying it. Just putting this question out there: If you’re too goddam […]

Photo/Video Essay: Save Michigan’s Public Schools Rally!

Eclectablog himself wasn’t able to attend the grassroots-organized rally in support of the public school system in Lansing this morning; fortunately I was able to attend, with a contingent of my fellow Bloomfield Hills-based public school advocates. Yes, that’s right: Even in Bloomfield Hills, where most of the residents seem to think that the deliberate, systematic destruction of the Michigan […]

There’s still hope for Medicaid expansion in Michigan

There’s still hope for Medicaid expansion in Michigan

Governor Snyder is calling in the cavalry to urge legislators to do the right thing. Add your voice, too. In the words of Monty Python (sort of), it’s not dead yet. According to a report in the Detroit Free Press, Governor Rick Snyder has spoken with U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to find a way to […]
