This past weekend, former Republican Florida Governor Charlie Crist endorsed President Obama and was announced as a speaker at the Democratic National Convention next week. Here in Michigan, Governor Rick Snyder seems to be keeping out of the limelight with the Romney campaign, as well. At the last two Michigan stops by the Romney campaign, including one last Friday in Commerce, Michigan, our Republican governor was notably absent from the public view. He skipped a rally in June, as well, attending a meeting of business owners only.
Why is that? Heck, even disgraced Republican House Speaker Jase Bolger spoke at the Commerce event.
Is it because the Romney campaign has become too extreme for even our conservative governor?

A storm descending, everything in disarray and a persistent effort to appear as if everything isn’t crumbling around them—welcome to the Republican National Metaphor. It might be nice to imagine hurricane menacing this week’s Republican Convention as a sign from Mother Nature about the danger of denying science or a rebuke from […]
Read more ›By now you know how bad a day Mitt Romney had yesterday. Nearly every headline coming out of his trip to Michigan included the word “birther” in it. It was so bad, in fact, that he quickly sent out a “Look over there! Something shiny!” email to his mailing list, trotting out a thoroughly debunked lie about President Obama removing the work requirement from welfare.
But I would be willing to bet that the Romney campaign is actually relieved that this tempest in a teapot discussion about his slinging red meat to the birthers is dominating the headlines. Why? Because otherwise people would be talking about the massive release of nearly 1,000 pages of internal documents by Gawker from Romney’s days at Bain Capital that show conclusively that he went to dramatic and possibly illegal lengths to avoid paying taxes.
What Mitt Romney is counting on is that Americans are more excited about talking about inflammatory remarks about President Obama’s birth certificate than they are about discussions about high finance, a world most of us will never know, much less understand.

On top of the already abysmal record on immigration issues that Republicans in general have, Mitt himself has yet to establish himself as a friend to Latinos in any way.
However, this week, a lawsuit being filed by one of his immigration advisors against the Obama administration should just about put the final nail in that particular coffin.

Wow. Even Republicans have to be flinching when their Number One Two on the ticket resorts to going full Palin on them. But that’s what Paul Ryan did on the campaign trail yesterday.
Meanwhile, Mitt Romney and the Republicans continue to lie their asses off as if nobody is watching or cares.

What you don’t know about Mitt Romney could cost you your Medicare For someone who has betrayed every political position he’s ever taken and lies about nearly everything, Mitt Romney has been incredibly consistent about one thing: Secrecy. Mitt won’t detail his policy plans. He won’t even let Bain Capital tell you when he actually left the company. And though […]
Read more ›Oh, my freaking GOD! Romney has pulled ahead of Obama in both Michigan and in Florida! The Ryan Splat turned out to be the Ryan Kertwang after all!
That’s what one of the most highly discredited polling firms in the country, Foster McCollum White & Associates, says. Their Michigan poll, released on Friday, is breathlessly titled “Its official, Paul Ryan has created a significant bounce for Mitt Romney and down the ballot as well, creating a new challenge for President Obama and Democrats, per poll”. The poll has President Obama down by almost 4 percentage points and, hilariously, has Pete Hoekstra up by over two over Senator Debbie Stabenow.
Problem is, the people they polled were ridiculously old and white, way more so than the people who typically vote.

When Todd Akin said that a woman’s body would not allow a pregnancy during a “legitimate rape,” he didn’t just betray a stunning ignorance of a woman’s biology. The American Journal of Preventative Medicine estimates over 25,000 pregnancies a year are a result of rape. Akin also […]

A smiling picture of Mitt with a caption, “Your Mom likes Mitt Romney.” A promoted ad purchased by the Romney campaign to use my Facebook connection to get me to “like” the Republican nominee for president. Read more ›As I wrote about yesterday, disgraced former Republican Congressman Thad McCotter has now been found to have fraudulently falsified nominating petitions not only this year but in 2010, as well. The Detroit Free Press now reveals that the fraud goes back EIGHT YEARS when McCotter filed photocopied and cut-and-paste copied signatures in 2008, too. In fact, if the two-year statute of limitations hadn’t run out, McCotter could be looking at jail time.
