New Obama ad “Firms” shows just how un-American Mitt Romney has acted

You have a strange way of showing your patriotism, Mitt

The Obama campaign has a killer new ad out today that will be running in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. It’s called “Firms” and highlights just how un-American Mitt Romney has behaved as Governor and as the head of Bain Capital.

Watch it after the jump (with bonus tweet that you won’t want to miss.)

How You Know Mitt Romney is Losing It

How You Know Mitt Romney is Losing It

Why stop flip-flopping now?

Obama vs. Romney now resembling Bush vs. Kerry — if John Kerry had been the main architect of the Iraq War.

— Eric Kleefeld (@EricKleefeld) July 2, 2012

Mitt Romney has two big problems.

First, he’s facing a team of ninja strategists who have already taken his two greatest accomplishments in life—getting filthy rich as a businessman and passing a universal health care plan as governor—and turned them into his greatest weaknesses.

Second, he is a right-wing extremist running for president after eight years when right-wing extremist tortured American values and cost us millions of jobs.

Conservative radio show host says nuns should be “pistol whipped”, Rep. Tom Latham cracks up laughing

Really? You went THERE?

Conservative Iowa radio talk show host Jan Mickelson says that a group of nuns that are currently on a bus tour to lobby against the Paul Ryan plan should be pistol whipped.

When he did so, his guest, Republican Congressman Tom Latham, could hardly control his laughter.

In fact, he didn’t.

Romney’s past says everything you need to know about how he’d govern & who he’d represent as president

Romney’s past says everything you need to know about how he’d govern & who he’d represent as president

Not just the past — the past WEEK

It hasn’t been a good week or two for Mitt Romney. His past, which he seems to think nobody will look at, think about, or care about, is beginning to catch up with him.

Between his record as a failed job-creator as a governor and a successful jobs-destroyer as a businessman as well as a rare glimpse at just who he will be beholden to if he is elected, Mitt Romney has a severe and awesome image problem to overcome.

One I doubt that he will.

Much, much more after the jump.

Drunk with power, Michigan Republican men continue to show themselves for the pigs they are

Drunk with power, Michigan Republican men continue to show themselves for the pigs they are

They just can’t help themselves

Just one day after thousands gathered at the Michigan state Capitol to decry the denigration and diminishing of women in the legislature, Republicans continue to show themselves for the utter pigs that they are. This time, it’s State Rep. Wayne Schmidt from Traverse City on Michael Patrick Shiels’ radio show who continued their blatant war on women.

How the Death of Osama bin Laden Sent the GOP Chasing Its Tail

How the Death of Osama bin Laden Sent the GOP Chasing Its Tail

Politicizing 9/11 is terrible. But using it as a premise to invade the wrong country is cool. Hi. I’m one of those death penalty hating, rule-of-law loving American progressives who cheered the death of Osama bin Laden a year ago today. Without a trial, the personification of Al Qaeda was summarily killed and dumped into the Indian Ocean. And I, […]

How Mitt Lost Massachusetts

How Mitt Lost Massachusetts

He’s like Reagan, if Reagan were about to lose California by 20%. If you’re wondering what kind of governor Mitt Romney was, just look at the polls in Massachusetts, the only place he has ever held elected office. The President leads Romney by an average of 18.5%. These are the voters who know Mitt best. Steve Benen examined Mitt’s unpopular […]

How the Republican Party Fails Miserably and Still Wins

How the Republican Party Fails Miserably and Still Wins

Why refuting conservative lies will never work. I’ve been haunted by a question recently: How did the GOP win the House in 2010? I can’t even come up with analogy to express my disbelief of this insane fact that we’ve been living with for more than a year now. How can I explain the dismay at watching the GOP win […]

My appearance on Off The Record with Tim Skubick shows this weekend (and in this post)

Showtime!

Here is the video from my appearance on Off the Record with Tim Skubick that airs starting tonight and twice on Sunday (your mileage may vary depending on your public television station.) The other guests were Joe DiSano (the other liberal, sitting on my right), Jake Davison (Joe’s conservative podcast partner at Politibomb.com) and Jack Spencer from the very conservative Mackinac Center for Public Policy. Although this was the “Bloggers Edition” of OTR, Jack and I were the only actual bloggers. Jake and Joe are not.

Enjoy (video after the jump.)

How to Use Twitter to Take Down a Monster

How to Use Twitter to Take Down a Monster

It’s almost as if you can’t make millions of dollars spouting tired sexist hate on commercial radio anymore. Here’s the difference between Bill Maher and Rush Limbaugh in case you’ve watched this video and are still wondering. Forget that Maher is funny. Forget that he’s not on commercial television. Forget that he’s partisan out of necessity, not by design. (He […]
