Mitt Romney Blames The ‘Victims’

Mitt Romney Blames The ‘Victims’

REMINDER: People on welfare didn’t cost us 15 million jobs and trillions in savings. People on Wall Street did. Mitt Romney released one doctored tax return this week but he also – accidentally – released something that no one expected: some truth. Thanks to a waiter with a small camera and gigantic metaphorical testicles, James E. Carter and David Corn […]

WEST WING REUNION: cast cuts ad for Michigan Supreme Court candidate Bridget Mary McCormack

WEST WING REUNION: cast cuts ad for Michigan Supreme Court candidate Bridget Mary McCormack

THIS is how you do it!

When I interviewed Michigan Supreme Court candidate and University of Michigan law professor Bridget Mary McCormack earlier this week, I told you that today was going to be a big day for her. And it is. In addition to receiving the coveted endorsement from Democracy for America, the McCormack campaign released a new online ad. But this isn’t just any ad. This ad was filmed with cast members from The West Wing and looks like an episode of the blockbuster show.

The ad talks about a national emergency that’s in progress: people are voting in the partisan section of the ballot but NOT in the non-partisan section where they judges are elected and the ballot initiatives are voted on. It also highlights the amazing background and work done by McCormack.

It’s a smart, funny, and very entertaining way to get the point across while endorsing a terrific candidate for the state Supreme Court. Watch it after the jump.

All The Money In The World Can’t Buy Sane Republicans

All The Money In The World Can’t Buy Sane Republicans

This is the ‘Party of Lincoln’ the same way the Honda Odyssey is the ‘Car of Homer’ Democrats are now favored to retain control of the Senate, according to ace poll guy Nate Silver. This is a stunning reversal. Just a few months ago, Republican control of the Senate seemed likely. Best-case scenario was a 50-50 split and prayer that […]

Something is very odd about that Romney fundraiser video

Something is very odd about that Romney fundraiser video

Two months from May 17th? Eh? There’s something very odd about the question asked at the Romney fundraiser that was secretly filmed without Romney’s knowledge. In the video, an obvious Ayn Rand devotee asks, “For the past three years, all everybody’s been told is, “don’t worry, we’ll take care of you.” How are you going to do it, in two […]

Everyday Americans react to Mitt Romney’s insulting dismissal of half the country

Everyday Americans react to Mitt Romney’s insulting dismissal of half the country

Hey, Mitt! Ur doin it wrong.

There’s a great new ad out by the Obama campaign called “47 percent”. It shows everyday Americans reacting as they listen to Mitt Romney’s “I don’t care about half the country” speech to campaign donors at the Boca Raton home of private equity manager Marc Leder on May 17.

Watch it after the jump.

Yeah, Romney’s crud. But the fundraiser video has another important lesson to teach us.

Yeah, Romney’s crud. But the fundraiser video has another important lesson to teach us.

Are you ready to eat cake?

Like the rest, or at least 99.9%, of the country, I was appalled and offended when I watched the video tape of Mitt Romney at a fundraiser telling his super-wealthy benefactors that half the country thinks they are entitled to food and healthcare and housing and that he didn’t care about them. I was incensed that he would describe half of Americans as not being willing to take personal responsibility and care about their lives.

Yeah, that’s offensive, all right. It’s also completely unsurprising. Come on, be honest. Did you really think that Mitt Romney felt any other way about those of us who don’t make they kind of money he makes?

What was most offensive to me in that video was the guy asking the question. Follow me over the fold for more.

Politico highlights the Romney “Death Stench” – So-called business expert can’t even lead a campaign effectively

Politico highlights the Romney “Death Stench” – So-called business expert can’t even lead a campaign effectively

You can’t even run a campaign, why would we trust you to run the country?

In 2008, then-Senator Barack Obama was asked about his lack of business background by Netscape founder Marc Andreessen. He told Andreessen, “Watch how I run my campaign — you’ll see my leadership skills in action.”

This was good advice and it’s advice that we should take now when looking at the campaign of Mitt Romney. A killer article by Politico today shows just how absolutely failed Mitt Romney’s campaign is. If this is an example of Mitt Romney’s leadership skills, Americans of all political stripes should be given serious pause about his ability to lead the country.

INTERVIEW: Bridget Mary McCormack – A cutting edge campaign for the Michigan Supreme Court

INTERVIEW: Bridget Mary McCormack – A cutting edge campaign for the Michigan Supreme Court

A true advocate for those with the greatest need

When I arrived at the campaign office of State Supreme Court candidate Bridget Mary McCormack just south of Dexter, I found her Skyping into a house party meeting Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She had just finished making her pitch to a room full of nearly two dozen potential supporters, who could be seen on the screen of her laptop, and was taking questions. When you’re running a statewide campaign for a position most people know little about and often ignore on the ballot, it’s this type of unconventional approach that could make the difference between who wins and loses the race for one of the three open spots on the Court. It’s also completely in line with the type of campaign that McCormack is running.

Click through for my interview with this terrific candidate and to find out more about her out of the ordinary campaign.
