While headlines blare “Birther!”, Romney sends out email repeating lie about welfare work requirement

Pay no attention to the birther behind the curtain

Every report on Romney’s appearance in Commerce, Michigan today screamed BIRTHER! The top story on NPR was about it. It’s all anyone is talking about. So, in an attempt to distract people from the horrible outfall from his moronic statement, Romney’s campaign sent out an email at 3:32 p.m. this afternoon quintupling down on the lie that President Obama has removed the work requirement from welfare.

In the email is a link to a video that cites an op-ed from a newspaper that now describes the claim as “debunked”.

Wind makes a surprise appearance during Romney’s energy policy presentation

Wind makes a surprise appearance during Romney’s energy policy presentation

Hello, Mitt? God here. I have a message for you…

Mitt Romney unveiled his Drill Here, Drill Now fantasy of an “energy policy” yesterday and the wind made a surprise appeance. Not IN his presentation but nearly blowing DOWN his presentation.

“I have a chart that still, despite the wind, is still holding up up here,” Romney said, showing his giant chart. “These guys have held it up with about every piece of weight you can think of…”

Romney advisor on immigration sues Obama administration on new immigration policies

Romney advisor on immigration sues Obama administration on new immigration policies

Oh, yeah, that’ll win ’em over, Mitt

I think it’s time Mitt Romney quit pretending that he’s going to get any sort of appreciable percentage of the Latino vote in November. On top of the already abysmal record on immigration issues that Republicans in general have, Mitt himself has yet to establish himself as a friend to Latinos in any way.

However, this week, a lawsuit being filed by one of his immigration advisors against the Obama administration should just about put the final nail in that particular coffin.

Why phone banking & door knocking for Obama is vital: “We are microtargeting”

Why phone banking & door knocking for Obama is vital: “We are microtargeting”

No vote left behind

Last night, I attended a presentation sponsored by Women for Obama and given by Obama for America (OFA) national political director Katherine Archuleta. The last slide in her presentation was one that said “Days Until Election Day: 75”.

75 days. That’s how much time we have left. (Actually, now it’s 74.)

What we do with that time between now and the November 6th election is up to us. But, what I can tell you is that your highest “bang for your buck” volunteer time will be for OFA.

I’ll explain why after the jump and, yes, it explains what “microtargeting” is.

Romney & Ryan campaign in Michigan FRIDAY. MoveOn.org will be there. Oh, will they ever…

Well, well. This should be fun

Let’s face it: for the most part, being in a swing state sucks. It’s much better to know your state will swing your way. That’s the way it has always been in Michigan. For as long as I have been voting, I never felt like I had to worry about Michigan being a solidly blue state.

Then, in 2008, we elected a black progressive liberal and all Hell broke loose. We woke a sleeping giant of racist, bigoted conservative idiocy and got our clocks cleaned in 2010. So, now we have to worry about Michigan.

However, there is one good thing about being a swing state: you get LOTS of attention. And tomorrow, Mitt Romney and his sidekick Paul (Ryan) will visit the Great Lakes State to sell their RomneyHood tax plan and promote the War on Women™.

MoveOn.org will be there to meet them and so should YOU. Details after the jump.

AFL-CIO teams up with MoveOn.org for massive grassroots election effort

Workers and progressives unite!

Worker’s rights group Workers’ Voice is spearheading a massive grassroots effort to defeat Republicans, teaming up with another progressive force of nature, MoveOn.org:

On the weekend before the Republican National Convention, working families will kick off the national 2012 grassroots canvasses across the country to talk to their friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers about the radical Romney/Ryan agenda that will outsource jobs, end Medicare and raise taxes on middle class families to give tax cuts to millionaires…

UPDATED: Dem leaders call for grand jury investigation of Bolger, GOP still support him

This is NOT going away…

Republican State House Speaker Jase Bolger may want the story of his involvement in the biggest election fraud in memory in our state to go away, but it’s not. This week, leaders in the Michigan Democratic Party are calling for a one-person grand jury investigation into possible criminal behavior by the beleaguered and corrupt Republican.

More about this and Michigan Republicans continued support of Bolger after the jump.

Michigan tea partiers win, Gov. Snyder backs down from state health insurance exchange

Michigan tea partiers win, Gov. Snyder backs down from state health insurance exchange

Leadership? Not so much…

As I reported last month, tea partiers in Michigan have been working diligently against their own self-interest, trying to prevent a state-run health insurance exchange from being formed in Michigan. The exchange, mandated by the Affordable Care Act, would help up to a half million Michiganders obtain affordable health insurance.

If the state doesn’t create one of their own, the federal government will do it for them. And that, apparently, is exactly what is going to happen in Michigan because Governor Rick Snyder has backed down from his push for the Michigan-run exchange.

Congressman Todd Akin says he is sorry for what he said about “legitimate rape”. So why did he say it?

Congressman Todd Akin says he is sorry for what he said about “legitimate rape”. So why did he say it?

Todd Akin is a pandering liar

Congressman Todd Akin, candidate for Senate from Missouri says he is sorry. He says he’s sorry because he said “the wrong words” when he said that women who are raped rarely get pregnant because “if it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

He’s so sorry, he released a video saying how sorry he is.

He is sorry for all of the wrong reasons. And he’s not sorry at all.

Paul Ryan goes full Palin. Romney and the Republicans go full Pinocchio.

Aw, geez…

Wow. Even Republicans have to be flinching when their Number One Two on the ticket resorts to going full Palin on them. But that’s what Paul Ryan did on the campaign trail yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney and the Republicans continue to lie their asses off as if nobody is watching or cares.

Follow me over the jump.
