Can you say “out of touch”? I knew you could.

The Obama campaign has been hammering hard on Mitt Romney’s offshore bank accounts and his absurdly low tax rate and his car elevators and all of the trappings that make him a 0.1 percenter. I’m glad. It’s important that Americans know that Mitt is not a “regular guy”. He’s a massively wealthy millionaire that has always lived a privileged life.

He’s not one of “us”.

But there’s an easier way to learn about how out of touch Mitt Romney is: listen to Mitt Romney.

I was with a group of people who ordered Domino’s Pizza this past weekend. When the pizzas came, some of them, called “Artisanal Pizzas” came in this box in box with the phrase “NO IS THE NEW YES” in large font across the top. While Pete Hoekstra’s Senate campaign staggers around from self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the feet, his primary contenders aren’t holding back on him, either.

One of them, Gary Glenn, tea partier extraordinaire, is accusing Hoekstra of having hired a convicted felon to collect signatures to put him on the ballot.

Oh, yeah, that’s gonna work, Pete

Last February, I asked the question “Is media group that produced Pete Hoekstra’s racist ad full of Democrats?”

I’m asking this question again because Hoekstra’s latest ad basically highlights his failure to stop the Affordable Care Act that he claims “takes your freedoms away”. With last week’s Supreme Court ruling, all this ad does is show how bloody ineffective he is.

Mission Partially Accomplished

Yesterday, I wrote about the March for Democracy and Freedom being organized by Rev. Charles Williams II and his group, National Action Network – Michigan Chapter. The march was modeled on the Selma to Montgomery civil rights marches of the mid-60s and was in protest of voter suppression legislation passed by Michigan Republicans as well as the anti-democratic Emergency Manager Law, Public Act 4.

Yesterday, Governor Snyder stunned the state by vetoing the three most egregious bills in the election reform package sent to him by the Republican legislators. Based on this, the march has been postponed.

In a surprising blow to conservative Michigan Republicans working to make it harder to vote in our state, Governor Rick Snyder vetoed three key components of a package of voter suppression bills. The move apparently caused House Speaker Jase Bolger to temporarily lose his mind.
