Now we know what Trump campaign staff considers to be “rigging the election” – stealing yard signs

Now we know what Trump campaign staff considers to be “rigging the election” – stealing yard signs

Donald Trump’s insistence that anything he doesn’t win is “rigged” was one of the highlights of last night’s debate where he whined about not winning an Emmy for The Apprentice. His insinuation that the 2016 presidential election is “rigged” since he’s not winning is, of course, a petulently childish stamping of his feet and, as is now well-documented, something he’s […]

Such a nasty candidate

Such a nasty candidate

Last night during the last presidential debate, Hillary Clinton was asked about a “grand bargain” that includes benefit cuts and raising taxes to save the Medicare trust fund by moderator Chris Wallace from FOX News. In her response, she got a dig in a Donald Trump for his use of a feature of the tax code which allows him to […]

Why white men may finally be turning on Trump

Why white men may finally be turning on Trump

Or, why it’s time for white men to start sending out some thank you cards Non-white non-males got it right away. Donald Trump is dangerous. At first, he’s dangerous the way every boss who leans in too close and stares way too long is dangerous. Then when you’re alone with him, he only gets worse. There’s a bittersweet gift to […]

In Flint you can be a one-person grand jury: VOTE!!!

Before we get into the weeds, I believe most of the readers of Eclectablog are keenly aware of the disgrace Governor Rick Snyder and his administration have caused, not just to the state but very specifically to the residents of Flint, people who continue to suffer while the governor uses taxpayer funds to defend himself from what may prove to […]

Kalamazoo County Clerk’s lateness in getting out absentee ballots is, indeed, the fault of Attorney General Bill Schuette

Kalamazoo County Clerk’s lateness in getting out absentee ballots is, indeed, the fault of Attorney General Bill Schuette

Last week I posted a piece titled, “GOP Kalamazoo County Clerk running for reelection fails to get absentee ballots out in time in violation of federal law“. In the piece, which was based on reporting by WMMT, I essentially blamed Kalamazoo County Clerk Tim Snow’s ineptness for his not getting absentee ballots out on time as required by federal law. […]

UPDATED: GOP Kalamazoo County Clerk running for reelection fails to get absentee ballots out in time in violation of federal law

NOTE: This post has been updated HERE based on the featured comment below by Washtenaw County Clerk and Register of Deeds Lawrence Kestenbaum. Based on what I learned from Clerk Kestenbaum, Kalamazoo Clerk Tim Snow is NOT the responsible party for the lateness of absentee ballots being mailed. This is a direct result of Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette’s useless effort to stop straight ticket voting in our state. I apologize to Clerk Snow and regret the error.

Distinguishing “locker room banter” from confessing to sexual assault: It’s so easy even a grade school kid can do it!

The revelations about Donald Trump’s disgusting misogynistic comments about women on an “Access Hollywood” bus in 2005 came as a complete shock to everyone. Everyone, that is, who hasn’t been watching this odious and stunted example of manhood in action for the past 12 months. Actually, you can go much farther back than that. Trump has been talking this way […]

Are our children our future in Michigan? Not any longer

Are our children our future in Michigan? Not any longer

Yesterday, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill into law that on the surface seems less than toxic, but it is toxic – VERY toxic! Details of the bill can be found HERE. As I have been watching this bill evolve – or devolve, more appropriately – I have been stunned by the actions of the GOP-led legislature to make […]

Detroit News endorses Libertarian embarrassment Gary Johnson a day after he can’t name a single favorite foreign leader

The Detroit News came out with their endorsement for president this morning and, for the first time in the newspaper’s history, the did NOT endorse a Republican. They also didn’t endorse a Democrat. They endorsed a candidate who doesn’t even have double-digit support in most national polls, Libertarian Gary Johnson. Johnson’s position on issues that impact everyday Michiganders shows just […]
