Why President Obama’s support of marriage equality is a BFD

Why President Obama’s support of marriage equality is a BFD

Nobody puts Barack in a corner Yesterday I wrote that the issue of same-sex marriage was coming to a crisis for the President, even though he’s running against an opponent who could not be worse on gay marriage — unless he were literally Rick Santorum. Mitt Romney has called himself “one of the nation’s leading advocates of traditional marriage” and […]

The utter lametude of the Romney campaign’s (attempted) slam on President Obama’s first campaign rally

Seriously? That’s all you have?

On Saturday, Romney campaign spokesman Ryan Williams tweeted this:

View from floor during @BarackObama speech. Not the “overflow” crowd he promised tinyurl.com/7fcozsu #not2008anymore twitter.com/RyanGOP/status…— Ryan Williams (@RyanGOP) May 5, 2012

The photo was clearly taken before President Obama’s first campaign rally got underway. The empty section you see on either side of the tunnel coming out onto the main floor was directly behind the media stand so nobody was seated there intentionally. You can see this in the panoramic image my wife, Anne C. Savage, took while she was there. Go fullscreen with the pano and zoom in on the section in question and

When that’s all you have, you are in BIG trouble.

It is impossible to be worse on the issue of marriage equality than Mitt Romney

It is impossible to be worse on the issue of marriage equality than Mitt Romney

He’s the Las Vegas of anti-gay equality Here are the facts about the President’s record on gay rights: No President has hired more openly gay or lesbian Americans for high profile positions than Barack Obama. Ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was a historic achievement for equality. By refusing to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, the President makes the constitutional […]

Detroit NAACP celebrates its 100-year anniversary with an impressive 57th Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner

Restoring hope for Detroit’s future

Last night, the Detroit NAACP held its 57th Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner. This was a particularly auspicious event because this is the 100-year anniversary of the Detroit branch of the NAACP.

It is hard to understate the immensity of this event. Upwards of 6,000 people attended this gala event at the Cobo Center in Detroit. There were five podiums set up, ringing the room, each with a long line of seats for dignitaries stretching out on both sides.

The press conference before the event was attended not only by the award winners but such dignitaries as…

Stop Pretending There Will Be Just One Attempted “Swiftboating” of President Obama

Everyday they Swiftboat this President There’s a lot of hubbub about a new ad featuring conservative Navy SEALs. These purported ex-soldiers claim that President Obama is taking too much credit for the historically brave decision he made to go after bin Laden in Pakistan last year. Think Progress has pointed out that this ad has much in common with the […]

We mix the Kool-Aid, you swallow it For anyone who remembers 2009 and 2010, The Fox Effect: How Roger Ailes Turned a Network into a Propaganda Machine by David Brock, Ari Rabin-Havt and Media Matters for America will trigger a bit of PTSD.
